Description

This easy cheese ball recipe is a creamy, cheesy, and crunchy appetizer perfect for parties. Made with cream cheese, sharp cheddar, green onions, and herbs, it’s rolled in chopped pecans for a delightful texture. It’s a quick and impressive party hit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Dash black pepper
  • 2/3 cup pecans, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add the cheddar cheese, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, parsley, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper.
  3. Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined.
  4. Scrape the sides of the bowl and gather the mixture. Lightly grease your hands and form it into a round ball.
  5. Spread the chopped pecans on a plate. Gently roll the cheese ball across the pecans, pressing them in to coat all sides.
  6. Wrap the cheese ball in cling wrap and refrigerate for about 1 hour to firm up.
  7. Before serving, let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes so it softens slightly. Serve with crackers, veggie sticks, or pretzels.

Notes

  • Use block cheese and grate it yourself for the best texture.
  • Soften cream cheese at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Don’t skip the chill time; it helps the flavors meld and the shape hold.
  • Roll in pecans just before serving for the freshest crunch.
  • This cheese ball can be made up to 5 days ahead and refrigerated.
