Description

These Cheesy Gordita Crunch Tacos combine seasoned beef, melty cheese, and crispy shells for a delicious homemade alternative to Taco Bell.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef (Ground turkey or chicken can be used as alternatives.)
  • 2 tbsp Taco Seasoning (You can make your own seasoning.)
  • 4 Flour Tortillas (Fajita-size works best.)
  • 4 Hard Taco Shells (Consider flavored taco shells for extra flavor.)
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (shredded) (Substitute with Monterey Jack or Mexican cheese blend if desired.)
  • 1 cup Iceberg Lettuce (Shredded cabbage can be used as a twist.)
  • 1 cup Tomatoes (diced) (Salsa or pico de gallo can also be used.)
  • 1 cup Taco Bell Spicy Ranchero Sauce (Substitute with your favorite taco sauce or sour cream.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the lean ground beef over medium-high heat for 5–7 minutes until browned, then drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and 1/4 cup of water to the beef, stirring well for 1–2 minutes until combined.
  4. Lay out flour tortillas on the baking tray and distribute shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top. Bake for 3–5 minutes until melted.
  5. Remove tortillas from the oven, press a hard taco shell into the center of each while cheese is warm.
  6. Fill each taco shell with seasoned ground beef, packing it well.
  7. Top with iceberg lettuce and diced tomatoes, adding any other desired toppings.
  8. Drizzle spicy ranchero sauce over the assembled tacos before serving warm.
