Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of cream cheese or aged cheddar
- ½ cup of softened unsalted butter
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Hot pepper jelly
- Fresh herbs like chives or parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of your chosen cheese (cream cheese or cheddar) with ½ cup of softened unsalted butter. Mix until creamy.
- Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll them into balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Using your thumb or the back of a spoon, gently press down in the center of each dough ball to create a well.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Once the appetizers are out of the oven and slightly cooled, carefully fill each thumbprint with a dollop of hot pepper jelly.
- Serve warm on a platter.
