Description

Chocolate Mousse Brownies are a delightful dessert that combines rich brownies with a light and airy chocolate mousse topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Brownies:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the Chocolate Mousse:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  4. Bake: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. A toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  5. Cool: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  7. Whip Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Set aside.
  8. Beat Egg Whites: In another bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  9. Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream, then fold in the beaten egg whites until no streaks remain.
  10. Spread Mousse: Once the brownies have cooled completely, spread the chocolate mousse evenly over the top of the brownies.
  11. Chill: Refrigerate the brownies for at least 30 minutes to allow the mousse to set.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
