Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Bake: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. A toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Whip Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Set aside.
- Beat Egg Whites: In another bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
- Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream, then fold in the beaten egg whites until no streaks remain.
- Spread Mousse: Once the brownies have cooled completely, spread the chocolate mousse evenly over the top of the brownies.
- Chill: Refrigerate the brownies for at least 30 minutes to allow the mousse to set.
