Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese sticks
  • Vegetable oil
  • Marinara sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by cutting your mozzarella cheese into sticks, each about 3 inches long.
  2. In three shallow bowls, set up your breading station. Place the flour in the first bowl, the beaten eggs in the second, and combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in the third bowl.
  3. Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, shaking off the excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl. Finally, roll the stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well. Repeat this process for all cheese sticks.
  4. Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze them for at least 30 minutes.
  5. In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a kitchen thermometer to ensure accurate temperature.
  6. Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Using a slotted spoon, remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping!
