Eggnog Cream Puffs – A Festive Holiday Dessert to Impress


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold eggnog
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Powdered sugar
  • Ground cinnamon or nutmeg
  • Drizzled white chocolate or icing (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, heat butter, water, and salt until boiling. Add flour all at once and stir until the dough forms a smooth ball.
  2. Remove from heat, cool 5 minutes, then beat in eggs one at a time until smooth.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pipe 1.5-inch mounds onto a lined baking sheet. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
  4. Mix pudding mix, eggnog, nutmeg, and vanilla. Let thicken 5–10 minutes.
  5. Whip heavy cream to stiff peaks. Fold into the pudding mixture. Chill.
  6. Cut each puff in half or poke a hole and pipe in filling.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, or drizzle with white chocolate.

Notes

  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Best served fresh, but can be prepared in advance.
