Eggnog Cream Puffs – A Festive Holiday Dessert to Impress

- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 1/2 cups cold eggnog
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- Powdered sugar
- Ground cinnamon or nutmeg
- Drizzled white chocolate or icing (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat butter, water, and salt until boiling. Add flour all at once and stir until the dough forms a smooth ball.
- Remove from heat, cool 5 minutes, then beat in eggs one at a time until smooth.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pipe 1.5-inch mounds onto a lined baking sheet. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
- Mix pudding mix, eggnog, nutmeg, and vanilla. Let thicken 5–10 minutes.
- Whip heavy cream to stiff peaks. Fold into the pudding mixture. Chill.
- Cut each puff in half or poke a hole and pipe in filling.
- Dust with powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, or drizzle with white chocolate.
Notes
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Best served fresh, but can be prepared in advance.
