- ½ cup molasses

- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3–4 tablespoons milk

Instructions
- Whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Beat softened butter and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add molasses, egg, and vanilla, beating until completely combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Divide dough in half and wrap each portion in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll chilled dough on a floured surface to ¼-inch thickness.
- Use gingerbread man cutters to create cookie shapes, placing cookies on parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- Mix powdered sugar with milk to create decorating icing. Let children decorate as they wish.
