Description

Gingerbread Syrup is the perfect festive flavoring for all of your holiday favorites.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 tablespoons unsulphured molasses
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan set over medium-high heat, combine water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves. Whisk continuously until sugar is dissolved and mixture comes to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, whisking regularly, or until syrup thickens and coats a spoon.
  3. Remove pot from heat and stir in vanilla.
  4. Transfer syrup to a clean glass jar and allow to cool (it will continue to thicken as it cools).
  5. Cover and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
