Description

Ultimate Green Bean Casserole is a comforting, creamy, and crunchy masterpiece that elevates the classic recipe to new heights.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Green Beans
  • Mushroom Soup
  • Milk
  • Onion
  • French Fried Onions
  • Cheese (shredded cheddar or Gruyère)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • Thyme (optional)
  • Nutmeg (optional)
  • Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Trim the ends of the fresh green beans and blanch them in boiling water for about 3-4 minutes until they’re bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  3. In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until they’re soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. If you’re using garlic, add it in the last minute of cooking.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sautéed onions, mushroom soup, milk, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Fold in the blanched green beans into the creamy mixture, ensuring they’re evenly coated. If you’re adding cheese, mix it in now!
  6. Pour the green bean mixture into a greased 9×13-inch casserole dish. Spread it evenly.
  7. Generously sprinkle the French fried onions on top of the casserole.
  8. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  9. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
