Ingredients

  • Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Rotisserie chicken (optional)
  • Grilled shrimp (optional)
  • Homemade Alfredo sauce or store-bought
  • Greek yogurt mixed with milk (for lighter version)
  • Fresh garlic
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Unsalted butter
  • Olive oil (for dairy-free option)
  • Fresh baguette or ciabatta
  • Whole grain or gluten-free bread (alternative)
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Provolone cheese (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Heavy cream
  • Chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start by seasoning your chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of garlic powder. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil, and cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked. Remove from heat and let it rest before slicing it into thin strips.
  2. In a saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add 2-3 cloves of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette or ciabatta in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mix together 4 tablespoons of softened butter and 2 cloves of minced garlic. Spread this mixture generously over the inside of the bread.
  4. On the buttered side of the bread, layer the sliced chicken, then pour the creamy Alfredo sauce over it. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Once out of the oven, sprinkle chopped parsley on top for a fresh touch. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into pieces.
