Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 3 noodles, then half of the cheese mixture.
  6. Add half of the meat mixture, followed by 1 cup of marinara sauce and 1 cup of mozzarella.
  7. Repeat the layering process, finishing with noodles, marinara sauce, and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Let the lasagna cool for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use fresh herbs and high-quality cheeses.
  • Allow lasagna to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing to help layers set.
  • Adjust seasoning to your taste. Add crushed red pepper flakes for a kick.
  • Use a sturdy, deep baking dish for even cooking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Lasagna can be frozen before baking. Wrap tightly and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight before baking.
