Description

Savory Miso Butter Salmon with a Sweet Caramelized Twist

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 fillets Salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons White miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Fresh ginger, grated
  • 12 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, sliced thin

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine 6 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter, 3 tablespoons of white miso paste, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of grated fresh ginger, and 1-2 cloves of minced garlic. Mash until well blended and creamy.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375°F or air fryer to 400°F.
  3. Evenly divide the prepared miso butter over each salmon fillet, ensuring they are generously coated.
  4. Place the salmon fillets in a lightly greased baking dish, bake for 12-15 minutes until opaque and flakes easily. Optionally broil for the last 1-2 minutes for a caramelized surface.
  5. For air fryer, line the basket with parchment. Cook at 400°F for 9-10 minutes without flipping.
  6. Transfer the salmon to a platter, drizzle with any remaining miso butter, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with steamed rice and vegetables.

Notes

  • Wild-caught salmon offers the best flavor.
  • Substitute olive oil for a dairy-free version.
  • Regular miso can be used but reduce the amount.
  • Brown sugar enhances sweetness and aids in caramelizing.
