Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more, to taste)
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. While spaghetti is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  4. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  6. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Bring sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  8. Return cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to combine with the sauce.
  9. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the spicy chicken spaghetti sauce.
  10. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
