Description

Create spooky and delicious Spiderweb Pizza Bites for a quick and cheesy Halloween snack. These mini pizzas feature a fun spiderweb design made from string cheese and olive spiders, perfect for parties or a festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent dough sheet or mini pitas
  • 1/3 cup smooth pizza sauce (for about 8 minis)
  • 1 cup string mozzarella, pulled into thin strands
  • Large black olives, halved for bodies and sliced for legs
  • Optional: shredded mozzarella for base sprinkle
  • Optional: garlic powder or garlic butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350–400°F depending on your chosen base, aiming for a quick melt and light browning.
  2. If using crescent dough, seal perforations and punch out 2–3 inch rounds. Place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on each round, ensuring enough sauce for flavor but not so much that the base becomes soggy.
  4. Arrange thin strands of mozzarella in a starburst pattern over each mini round, then add two concentric rings to create a clear spiderweb design.
  5. Bake for 10–12 minutes for crescent rounds, or until the cheese melts and the edges turn golden. Adjust time for other bases like crackers or pitas.
  6. While the webs are setting, prepare the olive spiders. Cut the halved olives into bodies and slice additional olive halves for legs.
  7. Place one olive body and one head onto each mini pizza. Add six to eight leg slices snugly around the body.
  8. Return the bites to the oven for 2–3 minutes to set the spider design without melting the web lines.
  9. Let the Spiderweb Pizza Bites rest for 2 minutes on the baking sheet to set the web lines before serving. Serve hot for the best gooey texture and defined design.

Notes

  • For larger pizza bases, par-bake them first, then add the web and spiders and finish baking for 2–3 minutes to set the design.
  • Keep the sauce thin to prevent the web from bleeding.
  • For parties, bake in batches and hold warm in a 200°F oven for up to 15 minutes.
