  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Optional: Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, 2 tablespoons of sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Gently toss to coat and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, remaining sugar (2 tablespoons), and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Arrange the triangles on the prepared baking sheet, overlapping the edges slightly to form a rectangle.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the center of the dough.
  6. Spoon the strawberry filling over the cream cheese layer.
  7. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to create a border. Brush the edges with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
  9. Allow the Danish to cool slightly on the baking sheet.
  10. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving. Slice and enjoy warm.
