- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk (for glaze)
- 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
- Neutral oil for frying (such as canola or vegetable)
Instructions
- Warm milk to 110°F, stir in yeast and sugar, and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, eggs, and yeast mixture. Mix, then add butter gradually. Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let the dough rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out circles using a biscuit cutter.
- Let the cut rolls rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
- Heat oil to 350°F and fry donut rolls until golden on both sides, 1–2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Whisk powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream to make glaze. Adjust thickness as needed.
- Dip warm donuts in glaze, top with freshly chopped strawberries, and serve.
