Savory Thanksgiving Peas Side Dish – Fresh, Easy & Flavorful
Ingredients

- 4 cups (550 g) frozen peas
- ½ cup (70 g) diced turkey bacon or smoked turkey pieces
- 1 small onion or shallot, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or thyme
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook diced turkey bacon for 3–4 minutes until lightly browned.
- Add butter or olive oil, then stir in onion or shallot. Cook 2–3 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Add peas straight from frozen. Cook 3–5 minutes until heated through and bright green. Season with salt and pepper. Add lemon juice if desired.
- Remove from heat and stir in fresh parsley or thyme. Serve warm.
Notes
- Replace turkey bacon with smoked chicken bits
- Use ghee instead of butter
- Add red pepper flakes for spice
- Stir in fresh mint for brightness
