Description

This Fan Favorite Pizza Sauce is rich, bold, and layered with Italian herbs and garlic. Perfect for quick weeknight pizzas or gourmet pizza nights.


Ingredients

  • 1 can (28 oz) San Marzano tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat until just warm.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds without browning. Stir in oregano and basil.
  3. Pour in the canned San Marzano tomatoes. Crush by hand if whole, or blend lightly.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, sugar (if using), and red pepper flakes.
  5. Simmer on low for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened.
  6. Blend for a smoother texture if desired. Skip if you prefer it chunky.
  7. Let sauce cool and store in airtight containers. Refrigerate or freeze as needed.
