Description

A delicious and versatile sweetener made with fresh or frozen cherries, perfect for drizzling over desserts or mixing into drinks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup erythritol or preferred sugar substitute
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine the cherries and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes until the cherries are soft.
  2. Remove from heat and strain the mixture, pressing the cherries to extract as much juice as possible.
  3. Add erythritol, lemon juice, and vanilla extract to the cherry juice. Stir until the sweetener is dissolved.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook on low heat for an additional 5 minutes to thicken.
  5. Allow to cool before storing in a jar.

Notes

Store your homemade syrup in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
