Description

A delightful strawberry slab pie with a sweet, juicy filling and a flaky crust, perfect for gatherings and summer occasions.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pre-made pie crust or homemade pie dough
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a baking sheet or slab pan.
  4. Pour the strawberry mixture into the crust.
  5. Roll out a second crust to cover the filling, seal the edges, and cut slits for steam.
  6. Mix the egg and milk for the egg wash and brush it over the crust.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let it cool, then slice and serve.

Notes

Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor. You can experiment with other fruits and pre-bake the bottom crust for a crispier pie.
