- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 pre-made pie crust or homemade pie dough
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt in a large bowl.
- Roll out the pie crust and place it in a baking sheet or slab pan.
- Pour the strawberry mixture into the crust.
- Roll out a second crust to cover the filling, seal the edges, and cut slits for steam.
- Mix the egg and milk for the egg wash and brush it over the crust.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool, then slice and serve.
Notes
Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor. You can experiment with other fruits and pre-bake the bottom crust for a crispier pie.
